WONDERS
Cervantes in the virtual era
Teatro Inverso's second project, WONDERS, is a free adaptation of the piece The Altar of Wonders by Cervantes, including other texts by the same writer as El Quijote, Viaje al Parnaso, and The Works of Persiles and Sigismunda.
Written, directed and performed by Paula Rodríguez and Sandra Arpa, Teatro Inverso. Premiered at Festival Tercera Semana, Valencia (2019)
Wonders is a response to the need to question what surrounds us as women, artists and citizens of the world and above all, to question ourselves. The piece is an interactive show in which the public experiences a panoramic journey through the great mysteries that revolve around our political, social and cultural current reality. Using The Altar of Wonders as the starting point, we delve into several Cervantes texts to reflect on the concept of Fiction vs. Reality, triggering poignant matters such as media manipulation, racism, global warming, gender, faith, in our Capitalist societies.
